Scope and Contents

The Marwin and Ruth Lindstedt papers span 1.5 cubic feet in one box. The collection dates from 1954 to 2006.

The Correspondence folder contains mostly letters sent to the Lindstedts in the 1990s, including some printed emails.

Two Newsletters folders contain the newsletters sent by the Lindstedts to supporters in the United States during their time in the Philippines. The newsletters date from 1954 to 1989.

The Other Newsletters folder contains newsletters from other missionaries that the Lindstedts kept.

The Dated folders range from 1954 to 1975. They contain correspondences, financial information, and documents from work in the Philippines.

The Update Materials, 1978 folder comes from an original envelope labeled with the same name. It contains updates about work in the Philippines from 1978.

The New Life Kit holds lesson plans teaching the gospel for use in the homes, both in English and Cebuano.

The Maps and Posters folder holds maps of the Philippines, as well as posters of missionary outreach.

The Baptist Conference of the Philippines folder holds the media script "Critical Time", a pamphlet on Madaue City Baptist Church, a brochure on Naga City, a plan to build a camp and conference center, church planting goalds for the 1990s, and written histories of BCP.

The Baptist Theological College folder contains historical background information, a 1996 report to the BCP Board of Trustees, and a Harvest Echoes newsletters on the college.

The Children's Shelter of Cebu folder holds mostly its newsletter from the 1990s.

The Field Council Minutes and Statistical Reports comes from a folder titled the same. It contains handwritten notes and dates mostly to the 1980s, with a few retroactive notes on past meetings.

Four Meeting Minutes folders hold minutes from the Philippine Field Council and the Executive Committee of the Philippine Mission. They date from the 1960s to the 1970s.

The Reports folder contains some reports by the Lindstedts regarding their work in the Philippines.

Harvest Echoes was the BCP newsletter. These folders dates from 1981 to 1995.

The Russian Baptist Church of Minneapolis folder contains a roster of members, the constitution and by-laws of the Russian Immigrant Mission, a history of the church, and its constitution.

The Russian hymnal is titled Songs of Zion and was published in St. Petersburg.

The Japanese book is titled A Simple Life that Pleases the Lord by Nobuasa Mitsuhashi, published in 1996. The author added a note to Mr. and Mrs. Lindstedt.

Biographical note

Lars Marwin Lindstedt was born in 1924 in Harbin, Manchuria to August and Margaret Lindstedt, missionaries to Russians in China. Ruth Elisabeth Anderson was born in 1924 in Chicago. Both attended Bethel College. They married in 1949 and had five children. Marv graduated from Bethel Seminary in 1953 and was ordained that year at Edgewater Baptist Church in Chicago.

The couple served in the Philippines from 1953 and 1989 in Bogo, San Remigio, and Cebu City. They worked with various churches, at the Baptist Theological College, and at the Children's Shelter of Cebu.

In 1989, the Lindstedts moved to Minnesota, where they continued to minister to Russian and Filipino communities. Marv died in 2012, and Ruth died in 2014. They are buried in Minneapolis.
