Scope and Contents

The Chesbro papers are located in two boxes and date between 1953 and 1981.

The dated folders mostly contain correspondence, but also hold some financial information.

The Medical Statements folders contain doctor and hospital statements from Betty, dating to the late 1970s.

The Certificates folder contains photocopies of birth certificates, diplomas, marriage certificates, and police department records.

The Newsletters were sent to donors and other missions supporters. They date to 1955 to 1980.

Biographical Note

Wilbert Chasbro was born in 1920 in California. Elizabeth Lorenz was born in 1928 in Ontario. During World War II, Bill served in the army in Hawaii, Guadalcanal, and the Philippines. Bill and Betty married in 1946 in Los Angeles. Bill attended Biola Bible College. In 1954, the family was appointed by the Baptist General Conference to serve as missionaries in the Philippines, where they worked at Cebu and Masbate. In 1966, the family moved to Arizona due to Betty's health. In 1974, Betty received a nursing degree. In 1976, they returned to the Philippines to work at Ormoc City on Leyte. Bill died in 2022 in Arizona.
