Scope and Contents

The Lakeside Baptist Church collection covers one box and dates between 1967 and 2003.

The Policies folder holds policy documents from the church, contsitutions and by-laws, articles of incorporation, and property documentation.

The Minutes folders hold the meeting minutes of mostly business meetings from a minutes binder dating between 1966 and 1976, as well as minutes from 1996 to 2003.

The Budget folder dates between 1970 and 2003, with the bulk of the documents from later years.

The Church Officers folder contains ballots and lists of proposed church officers from 1971 to 2004.

The Bulletins and Programs folder holds several church bulletins, as well as programs, bulletins, and a newspaper clipping regarding church anniversaries.

The Correspondence folder holds mostly letters from the pastor, as well as drafts of statements regarding the Foreknowledge of God controversy of 2000.

The Membership folders holds church directories and pages from a Membership Roll ledger.

The Annual Reports date between 1968 and 2002, with missing issues from 1970, 1971, 1993, 1995, and 1996.

Historical note

Kingswood Baptist Chapel began as a mission church in 1966 in a building at 5301 Goddard Avenue. First Baptist Church of Kingswood was officially organized in 1967 with 24 charter members. A new building at 9635 Bear Lake Road was dedicated in 1975, when the church was renamed Lakeside Baptist Church. The church is now closed.
