Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Fred Prinzing collection spans from 1988 to 1995 in one box of 1.5 cubic feet. It holds documents kept by Prinzing during his time at Bethel, mostly during his tenure as dean of the seminary from to 1992 to 1994.

The Seminary folder holds various documents related to the seminary. This includes mission statements, continuing commitments of the seminary, seminary goals, institutional competencies, evaluations, calendars, chapel information, and information regarding the relationship between the seminary and college.

The Healthcare folder holds information about the Bethel employee healthcare plan from 1994.

The Board of Trustees folder holds documents involving the incorporation and board structure, a committee on improving board performance, considerations to moving toward a university structure, and the establishment of a graduate school.

The Faculty folder contains documents on committees, faculty lists, faculty meetings, and faculty publications.

The Life of Devotion Retreat folder holds a packet from the retreat, as well as some planning information.

The Sabbaticals folder contains leaves of absence listings and reports on sabbatical leaves.

The Diversity folder contains information on ADA legistlation and development, interpreting services for the hearing impaired, and multicultural development in the seminary.

The Dean's Reports folder dates from 1992 to 1994 and contains dean's reports to the faculty.

The Correspondence folder dates between 1992 to 1994.

The Facilities/ Technologies folder holds information about space needs, campus master planning, and equipment needs and costs.

There is a Student Recruitment Report for Bethel Theological Seminary dating to August 29, 1988, done by the Graduate and Professional School Enrollment Management Consultants.

The Policies folder contains documents on campus evacuation procedures, termination policies, lifestyle expectations, an administrative handbook, class size policies, and bad weather policies.

The Fundraising/ Marketing folder contains documents on planning and strategies for marketing Bethel to new students, as well as fund-raising through donations.

The Financial folder holds budgets and expenses.

There is a folder with tabs for a job description for Vice President for Development, the annual fund, endowment, seminary strategy, CLC Blitz, and future fundraising strategies.

The Studies/ Evaluations folder holds information about outcomes-based education assessments, self-studies, and results of campus evaluations from 1992.

The Planning folder holds strategic initiatives, such as the Five-Year Information Technology Plan from 1994 by Jeryl Harder, a Five Year Plan to Reshape the Seminary by Fred Prinzing, and strategic planning documents.

There are two folders containing data on enrollment and other statistics.

The Programs/ Courses series holds some syllabi, course proposals, program tracks, and planning information. There are folders specific to the Marriage and Family Therapy program, the Doctor of Ministry program, the Master of Divinity program, and In-Ministry. Edward Buchanan put forward many program and course proposals which are in a separate folder.

There are two folders on Bethel San Diego. The documents mostly date to the early 1990s, before Prinzing served as dean in San Diego.

The Administrative Committee minutes folder and the Academic Coordinating Council minutes folder date to 1992 to 1993.

The Missions in Russia folder holds documents from the Baptist General Conference prompting missionaries to go to the former Soviet Union.

The Filipino Education folder contains a proposal by Dann Pantoua presented to the Baptist General Conference 1989 Annual Meeting prompting the establishment of a Filipino Center for Studies in Church and Culture. There are several planning documents for a new program at Bethel.

The Alumni folder contains mostly information about the Seminary Alumni Council, as well as alumni lists and grants.

The Distance Education folder involves In-Ministry, planning for the structure of teaching remotely, and technology preparation.

The Seminary Executive Planning folder contains meeting minutes from 1993.

The Academic Programs Committee folder contains meeting minutes from 1992 to 1994.

The Accreditation folder holds information about the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.

The Spirituality folder retains the same name and contents as a folder kept by Prinzing. It holds a bibliography and pamphlets on church growth and outreach.

Conditions Governing Access

Most of this collection is open for researcher use. The Seminary folder holds a document called Results From Junior/Transfer Student Interviews, which is restricted until 2030. The D.Min Issues document marked Confidential from 1994 inside the Doctor of Ministry folder is restricted until 2030.
