Abstract
Hope for Muslims North Africa. Dean and Paige Young have been called to serve the urban, poor Muslims of North Africa. Their approach: living incarnationally, living in city slums, no running water, no electrity, 2 room dwelling, shared facilities, local clothing, fasting during Ramadan, praying facing Jerusalem on a prayer rug, Paige's head covered, worshipping Isa (Jesus), limited interactions with the opposite sex. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. Only 2% of the total missionary effort is dedicated to reaching Muslim for Christ. There is religious persecution: legal penalties, torture, loss of family, employment difficulties. There is new openness to the Gospel; people are searching for answers and Islam offers little hope. Urban areas are growing in North Africa--people are relocating from rural areas and are finding it difficult to transition leading to urban poverty. Many people are illiterate; discipleship must happen without the written word. There is significant malnutrition and unemployment. Jesus in North Africa--A holistic approach: Church planting (Small informal groups); Evangelism (Opportunities to share are many); Discipleship (Work one-on-one with people); Leadership Training (Leaders must be raised up to establish an indigenous church); Relief Work (Provide fish); Community Transformation (Help to solve problems and teach people to fish). Viewers are encouraged to pray for religious freedom, poverty reduction, plight of national believers, the physical and spiritual health of the Young family.
