Scope and Contents

The Student Life collection dates from 1952 to 2021 and covers one box of 1.5 cubic feet, as well as a plaque external to the box.

The Dorm Rules folders contain regulations for students living in the Residence Halls, with folders specific to men and women living in Edgren and Bodien, respectively.

The Residence Handbooks date from 1952 to 1981 and holds handbooks from Residence Halls, including Edgren, Bodien, Hagstrom, Idaho Manor, and Bethel Manor.

The Falcon Manor handbook may be from a different school in Minnesota. Other handbooks are specific to freshmen or other students which includes schedules, events, and organizations. The Bethel Traditions booklet contains a list of what it means to be a Bethel student. Living can be such Joy and Living is such Joy are both from the Bethel College Women, which includes information about student life as female students at Bethel. The Smallest Fraternity in the World booklet was published in 1957 about living with a roommate. Your Roommate's Roommate was written by Margueritte Harmon Bro about female students living with a roommate. Understanding Your Residents was written by John Sautter and is a residence hall paraprofessional couselor's handbook.

The Student Handbook shifted to include a calendar in 1977, which is included in this collection until 1981.

The Student Affairs Job Description Handbook was revised in 1981 and holds job descriptions of many offices, including Athletic, Campus Ministries, Career Counseling and Placement, Counseling, Health Service, and Student Affairs. Also included in the binder are job descriptions from 1987.

The Institutional Review, Student Development binder is labeled Mack Nettleton. It dates to 1987 and contains reviews of Student Development, Health Service, Psychological Service, Housing Administration, Housing Programs, specific dorms, orientation, student lounges, Student Center programs, the Student Association, Student Senate, the Clarion, the Roster, and Athletics.

The Moves folder holds documents from the move to the Arden Hill campus in the 1973 regarding dorms.

The Student Affairs folder contains several handbooks put out by the Student Affairs Office regarding living with roommates.

The 2025 Acquisition series contains materials brought to the archives by the Residence Life team. The Photos folder is filled with pictures of student groups from dorms, the student government, and events. These photos are probably from the mid-2010s. The Campus Housing Preferences Study was prepared by Residents Life in 2008. The Residence Life Building Profile dates to July 2009. The Floor Plan Project was conducted in summer of 2021, studying layouts and capacities of dorms. The Room Draw Marketing Samples folder contains fliers for choosing different dorms. The ACSD Pre-Conference folder holds event materials from The Leadership Path, put on by the Association for Christians in Student Development. The Research folder is filled with research material and data dating between 2016 and 2018. The Housing Partnership Proposal dates to May 18, 2018 and was preared for possible new housing on campus. The Heritage Concert Series folder holds mostly posters advertising music events at Heritage Hall. The RD Christmas Video was a compilation of clips from RDs thanking their RAs for Christmas in 2011. The Getsch Front is a video clip from a security camera at Getsch Hall in 2013. The Residence Life, Romans 12 Vision Culture video dates to 2006, explaining the vision of the qualities of a Bethel student. The David Lisner plaque holds a picture of him, as well as a plaque commemorating the naming of Lissner Hall.
