Scope and Contents
The Elim Baptist Church of Peoria, Illinois spans two boxes and covers the dates from 1962 to 1981.
The Recognition folder contains information on the founding of the church in 1963.
The Constitution folder holds the church constitution and by-laws.
The History folder contains documents significat to events in Elim's church history, such as acquisition of land, the dedication of the building, and information about mother church Galesburg. An original red folder labeled "Elim Baptist Fellowship, Charter Membership, Clipping, Correspondence" contains other historical information from the church, mostly from 1962.
The Meeting Minutes and Reports folder contains information from the Ministers and Organizational Officers of the Greater Peoria Area Evangelical Ministers Fellowship, the Planning Committee, Board meetings, Council meetings, and various reports regarding church activities. The Business Meetings folder dates between 1965 and 1971.
The Annual Reports folder holds the reports dating between 1966 and 1976, excluding 1968, 1970, 1971, and 1972.
The two Correspondence folders maintain the order in which they were donated, separating out the correspondence involving membership.
The Membership folder holds two undated directories, membership lists, and a blank book of letters of recommendations. One oversize folder holds the pages from a church membership ledger dating from 1963 and 1978.
The Boys Brigade folder was from Elim's chapter of the Christian Service Brigade. It holds handwritten notes, events, and member lists and volunteers.
The Stat Reports are statistical reports sent to the Baptist General Conference about finances, membership, and other data.
The Financial folder holds correspondence, financial reports, and budgets. The Check expenses document expenditures paid by the church from 1980.
The Legal Forms files hold certificates of Status of Exempt Property, annual reports to the Secretary of State of Illinois, insurance information, deeds, inspection reports, mortgage information, and Articles of Dissolution.
The Specifications for General, Plumbing, and Electrical Work from Verkler and Tinsman Architects from 1964. Other Property Documents include warranty deeds, real estate transfers, mortgage information, sanitary and sewage disposal, zoning information, and blueprints.
The Resignations folder holds the resignation information from pastors and other church personnel.
The Triad Committee folders hold meeting minutes primarily in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The Closure folders contain more information from the Triad Committee, the transfer of property, and financial information as the church dissolved.
The Stewardship Report are the pages from a ledger and show tithes and offerings data.
